My work can be both lighthearted and serious, with important themes that will appear for those who have eyes to see.

Jim Craft |  Professor Emeritus  |  Palm Beach Atlantic University

Growing up on a farm in Michigan, Jim learned that every day is filled with many challenging opportunities for problem solving. Then, for 10 years Jim supported his family with his art in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of South Carolina. He successfully marketed ceramics, sculpture, and art to galleries, designed and produced ceramics for the High Point, NC furniture market, and secured commissions for paintings, murals, and architectural installations.

His work has been shown in many solo and invitational exhibitions. Some pieces have been purchased for permanent collections, including the South Carolina State Permanent Collection, at the State Museum, in Columbia, SC.

Jim has worked in nearly all traditional media: drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and printmaking but has also done a number of projects and commissions in more exotic media as well.

  • He developed his own castable raku clay body and marketed art vessels and tabletop accessories for the NC furniture market
  • Restored historic sculptures (secular and sacred) and architectural elements in wood, ceramic, steel, plaster, stucco, and cast resin
  • Completed 6 themed mural commissions
  • Made dozens of presentations, demonstrations, and inspirational speaking engagements
  • Designed educational art facilities, gallery and art equipment, kilns, and collaborative art projects and installations
  • Maintained a permanent art collection of over 300 works of art, including museum quality preservation methods
  • Curated, co-curated and/or presented over 150 art exhibitions
