This project was the restoration of an antique stucco arch. Originally, steel pins and wire were embedded into a brick and mortar wall and the stucco mortar was laid up and tooled, creating a curvilinear floral design with two bird forms. Much of the original stucco design had broken away due to the degradation of the interior steel armature. Jim set up scaffolding, removed all loose stucco and exposed, rusted armature material. He then drilled and installed tap-con screws and recreated the armature with stainless steel wire before applying fiberglass reinforced stucco, which was then tooled in place creating continuous forms. The entire surface was then sealed and painted with a stucco paint.
